What should investors expect from European equities in the months ahead? Philippe Brugère-Trélat and Robert Mazzuoli share their insights on investing in the eurozone—where the first impression of relatively cheaper markets is just part of the story. See what they say about the opportunities and themes likely to influence European equities’ performance in 2018.
Q: Looking at the eurozone, where are we in this current cycle?
Philippe Brugère-Trélat: It’s a pretty positive economic environment as the region is benefiting from strong growth, little inflation and fairly accommodating interest rates. The economic recovery is quite widespread across sectors and across countries. For the first time in 15 to 20 years, growth rates in the southern part of the region are comparable to northern countries. Things have come a long way from the global economic crisis when the eurozone seemed to be splitting at the seams.
