ESG Investing Integral to Who We Are

Estimates say it has grown 97% globally in the past 20 years and now has a dollar value in the trillions. It’s ESG investing. The words behind the letters mean environmental, social and governance. As of November 2017, 12 stock exchanges worldwide required listed companies to disclose ESG information.

At Fiduciary Trust Canada, you won’t hear too much about ESG investing as an isolated opportunity. That’s because, as a member of the Franklin Templeton Investments group of companies, there’s a business-wide commitment to weaving those three factors into the way each member firm operates and invests. Across a network of more than 550 portfolio managers and research analysts, located in 25 countries, ESG is identified as integral to fundamental analysis and decision making. As part of our commitment to making ESG analysis second nature to all that we do, Franklin Templeton Investments is a signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment.

We believe ESG analysis is important to evaluating risk, managing volatility and producing positive performance for investors. Experience on an individual company basis—whether in an emerging or developed market—shows our ESG approach is working. The positive effects for our clients and our support of sustainable, responsible growth continue to rise and ripple worldwide.
